What to Expect
Welcome to our community! Whether it's your first yoga class, or simply your first yoga class at Blue Moon, please know that you are welcome in our space. Our intention is to hold a space for you.
That means we have no expectations. Come as you are - no special knowledge, no special gear. We can even lend you a yoga mat if you need one! Blue Moon Yoga is a unique boutique studio that embraces all practitioners. We offer classes in many styles of yoga, spiritual, and healing practices, including Healing Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Sound Healing Journeys, Cacao Ceremonies, and Reiki, to keep your practice feeling relaxed, calm and balanced. We're proud to say that we've created a loving, safe, inviting, and nurturing space where you're able to explore your mind, body and spirit. Whether you are here for the physical aspect alone or are looking for a place to nurture your spiritual, meditative, and relaxation practices, we're here to help.
Our instructors are authentic, experienced, compassionate and nurturing. Many of our teachers are certified in not only yoga, but healing arts, including Reiki and Sound Healing. We are dedicated to serving and sharing the beautiful practice of yoga with you and making you part of our Blue Moon family.
Before coming to your first class at BMY please read our studio policy below, so you know what to expect when you arrive.

Read Our Studio Policy
Please note that while many of our policies remain the same, we have added guidelines for coming to "in studio" classes, due to the change in practices brought about by COVID-19. Masks are not necessary, but please feel free to wear one if that makes you comfortable. We take these precautions seriously in the best interest of the health and well-being of our clients and instructors. Thank you for your cooperation. Thank you.
...please arrive at least 10 - 15 minutes early (this includes joining the livestream classes). Centering and grounding is important to your yoga experience. Life happens, so if you do arrive a few minutes late, please enter and unroll your mat as quietly as possible, breathe, and enjoy class. If you arrive after class begins, entrance is at the discretion of the instructor. Now that studio space is limited, if you arrive too late to be admitted into class, no refund will be given.
…be mindful of yoga classes in the space. Enter quietly and please observe silence in the waiting area if there is a class in session while you are waiting. While the classes are now spaced further apart, please maintain a quiet demeanor and at least 6 feet of physical distance between you and other yogis at all times when entering our sacred space.
…check in at the desk or with the instructor. We are limiting the amount of people in the space, so there may not be desk staff. Please wait for guidance from the instructor or desk staff before proceeding into the space.
…silence or turn off your cell phone. If you forget and your phone rings, please get up quietly and turn it off. PLEASE - no cell phones in the yoga space. Preferably, leave everything not essential to class in your car. Anything left behind after class will immediately be discarded if we cannot determine its owner.
…respect the yoga space. Remove your shoes before you enter. Our space has been modified - you are in sacred space the moment you enter so please remove your shoes by the benches near the door.
…be aware of your body and your practice. Make any adjustments or modifications that help you achieve the pose that’s appropriate for you at the time or feel free to refrain from any poses that you are not comfortable with. Some of the instructors are moving back into hands on assistance (not all our instructors use this method), please feel free to let them know if you don't wish to be assisted in that way (no reason needs to be given).
…stay for relaxation. It's another important part of your class. This is where we integrate practice in body, mind and spirit. If you must go, gather personal items and quietly exit.
…be mindful of the scents/essential oils you wear to class. While they are beautiful, many people are scent sensitive, and, again, we would like everyone’s experience to be enjoyable. On that note…scent is essential to some of our classes (we’ve tried to note that in our descriptions) There may incense burning in our other classes, if you are scent/smoke sensitive and it is not a scent essential class, please feel free to ask the instructor to put it out — if they can, they will.
… bring your own mat, props, comfort items, water, etc. We do have props available for use, however, it's always best energetically and for health reasons to have you own props. Thank you.
